Neither Here Nor There is a theater production that tells the story of mixed-heritage individuals and second-generation immigrants navigating identity and belonging. My role in the project focused on projection design and promotional event design. Since the two main props in the performance are red and blue balloons, representing the two protagonists, I designed a participatory workshop inspired by this symbolism. In the workshop, participants were invited to write stories about “a moment when they felt unaccepted” on blue balloons, and others could respond to these stories using red balloons. This mirrored the narrative in the play, where the protagonist represented by the red balloon encounters the character represented by the blue balloon from 20 years ago. We then photographed these balloons and designed postcards using the stories, which were distributed to the audience during the performance, creating a deeper emotional connection between the storyline and the participants.
